Retired Army general. Appointed federal interventor in Rio de Janeiro by decree of Michel Temer (20/06/2018). In the Jair Bolsonaro government he was Chief of Staff (2020–2021) and Minister of Defense (2021–2022), by decrees signed by Bolsonaro; later, special adviser at the President's Personal Office (Mar.–Jun./2022), by ordinance of the Chief of Staff minister. Vice-presidential candidate on Bolsonaro's 2022 ticket. Declared ineligible by the full Superior Electoral Court (TSE) on 31/10/2023 in the cases on the Bicentennial of Independence (electoral sanction, not a criminal conviction); in the case on the meeting with ambassadors, he was excluded from the sanction. Convicted by Brazil's Supreme Federal Court (STF) in AP 2668 and sentenced to 26 years, final and unappealable on 25/11/2025.
